Arizona: Diverse and Significant

Arizona is home to 22 federally recognized Native American tribes, each with a unique heritage and cultural significance. 

Ak-Chin Indian Community

A community of the Akimel O'odham (Pima) people, located in the Santa Cruz Valley. They are known for their agricultural enterprises and the Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino. 

Cocopah Indian Tribe

Situated near the Colorado River, the Cocopah are known for their rich traditions and the Cocopah Museum. 

Colorado River Indian Tribes

A multi-tribal community including Mohave, Chemehuevi, Hopi, and Navajo members, residing along the Colorado River. 

Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation

Home to the Yavapai people, known for their perseverance and the We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort. 

Fort Mojave Indian Tribe

A tri-state tribe located along the Colorado River, known for their rich cultural heritage and the Avi Resort & Casino. 

Gila River Indian Community

Comprised of Akimel O'odham and Pee-Posh people, known for their agricultural contributions and the Gila River Hotels & Casinos.

Havasupai Tribe

Inhabitants of the Grand Canyon area, are renowned for their stunning waterfalls and traditional crafts. 

Hopi Tribe

One of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in North America, known for its art and cultural ceremonies. 

Hualapai Tribe

Located along the Grand Canyon, they are known for the Skywalk attraction and their stewardship of the land. 

Kaibab Band of Paiute Indians

Residing in northern Arizona, they are known for their cultural preservation efforts and traditional lifestyle. 

Navajo Nation

The largest Native American tribe in the U.S., spanning Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah, known for their weaving, jewelry, and vast lands. 

Pascua Yaqui Tribe

Located near Tucson, they are known for their vibrant cultural festivals and the Casino Del Sol. 

Pueblo of Zuni

While primarily in New Mexico, a portion resides in Arizona, known for their intricate pottery and jewelry. 

Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community

Comprised of Pima and Maricopa people, known for their enterprises like Talking Stick Resort and cultural events. 

San Carlos Apache Tribe

Located in eastern Arizona, they are known for their rich traditions and the Apache Gold Casino. 

San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe

Residing in northern Arizona, they are known for their weaving and efforts to maintain their cultural heritage. 

Tohono O'odham Nation

Inhabitants of the Sonoran Desert, known for their basket weaving and the Desert Diamond Casinos. 

Tonto Apache Tribe

Located near Payson, they are known for their cultural preservation and the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino. 

White Mountain Apache Tribe

Residing in eastern Arizona, they are known for the Sunrise Park Resort and rich cultural heritage. 

Yavapai-Apache Nation

Located in central Arizona, they are known for their cultural centers and the Cliff Castle Casino. 

Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribe

Situated near Prescott, they are known for their business enterprises and cultural events. 

Quechan Tribe

Located along the lower Colorado River, they are known for their rich cultural heritage and the Quechan Casino Resort.
